the child does get the jokes and does repeat them to other children. in a recent survey, 87% of moms say their children were caught cursing when they were less than five. 92% of those moms say their child admitted to having heard the word used in on television.
i, myself, learned about sex in fourth grade because i heard it on the tv show "seventh heaven". just weeks later, i was paddled and suspended from school for yelling "sex is better in the shower" in the middle of class. And i didn't even know. when an older friend at school heard about my remark and that i didn't know what it was. he proceeded to 'educate' me. then my young mind became fascinated with this new knowledge and throughout the rest of my school years, i got into a lot of trouble that i should not have...

to recap, violence good, any sexual reference that a child will not get, bad... gotcha. ::sigh::

I'll have you Know that most old cartoon movies that were free of these references were plenty entertaining for adults. Tom and Jerry, anyone?

Time prohibits me from reading this blog in depth, but from what I read it is obvious that America is tainted, and needs to be cleansed. Looking forward to your next one...

nice, i like the blogging feature, i'll have to write my own up soon... but i just wanted to comment on your hollywood portion of the blog.
hollywood and these childrens movies make certain references that go over kids heads but are intended to keep adults enjoying the movie. its hard to make a kids movie that wont put an adult to sleep. but most of these newer disney and pixar movies have such universal appeal and do well at the box office because, adults enjoy them too. i just saw Kung Fu Panda and Bolt, both of those i thought were fantastic. they kept my friends child 110% interested in the movie and kept me and my friend's attention aswell.
now the references they make are not over the top and as bad as you claim. they're funny little one liners that go right over the childs head. as far as a cross dressing lemur and being ok to behave as the opposite sex, i have no problem with children learning about acceptance of others. if you have a problem, thats your right as a parent to object and practice your freedom of speech by not going to the movies. me personally, i enjoy the storylines and themes and find it totally appropriate for a kid to see. no one is forcing you to see these films and no one is indoctrinating the youth. its your job as a parent to raise the kid with the beliefs you want them to have. if you want them to be closed minded and unaccepting of the differences in others, thats your own business not mine. so dont stop us from enjoying ourselves because you choose to have your child raised a different way.
