The President of The United States of America hoped aloud, that after the incident in Massachusetts he wanted all of us to start talking about race. He ostensibly yearns for an honest discussion about race relations in America. The problem with that is that it seems almost impossible. Clearly what I’m seeing is he is desirous of a frank and honest discussion about the state of race relations in our beloved country. Yet how could this be possible, when the discussion seems to be one of how bad the white man is and the digging up of the slave days.

It seems to me that minorities want this discussion as long as the argument leans towards how bad the white man is and not an honest look of all of our contributions to this lack of harmony. White people left and right are forced into a politically correct corner, where we have to take the part of the villain and hang that anathema around our collective necks. of course slavery is gonna come up in a conversation about race. um, duh. i dont think whites should have to apologize for it though. most people agree its wrong.its something that should never be forgotten but to throw it up in someones face everytime you have the chance is disgusting. i know many whites who subconciously act like theyre better than blacks. im biracial and the community i live in is very traditional. the majority think that im egyptian or hispanic and act dissapointed to find out that im half black.its ridiculous.

Well for starters, it would help if you thought of them as people. Ancestors of Slavery Americans? So that anytime that you refer to a black person they are reminded that it is ingrained into each and every white person that they are superior to any black person? If you could drop that attitude (and everyone else in the country) racism could go away. But you need to feel superior to someone to validate your self worth so that's never going to happen.

Racism is a problem because black society has a lot to offer america. But intelligent african american children think they have a better chance of making a life for themselves joining a gang or selling drugs than going to college. That's a problem. There are brilliant black people out there who deserve the exact same chance to prove their brilliance as white people, but they never get the chance, because you just think of them as the leftovers that the "help" forgot to clean up. You're a biggot, that's fine, there's nothing I can say to stop you from being a biggot. But stop trying to pretend that your some level headed, equal rights enthusiast who understands racial relations.

Self-segregation? You think African-Americans like living in the ghetto?

False claims of racism? Did you read your post about reverend wright?

I mean for god's sake, Black people weren't even allowed into the majority of college's until 2 generations ago.

Black society doesn't need a hand-out, they need a hand-up. Does it require money, yes. But that money should be used to improve crappy school districts and in an attempt to convince poor children that their future lies in being a productive member of society, and not in breaking the law.

How very unfortunate for your friend. I'm afraid your mistaken about the reason for Black Slavery though. If memory serves, colonies like Georgia, circa the 1640's, had determined it was immoral to use Europeans as chattle slaves. To circumvent this law, someone pointed to the African slaves that were being used in the Carribean(Spanish colonies maybe?) and argued that Africans were intellectually inferior to whites. They went so far as to say it was an act of compassion to bring them into the reletivly civilized enviroment of the New world, since they were slaves to their hunger and other animal instincts. Dan Carlin had a fascinating podcast on it recently, would urge anyone to check it out.

Evil always had a convincing, even moral sounding rationale. Beware of people with paternalistic arguments, they are never as compassionate as they seem.

Really? So what do the ancestors of slavery want? You made my point. Why are blacks called African American- should they be called ancestors of slavery American’s. Yes the ancestors of slavery Americans (can we just use AOSA for short) do want something and what that is exactly I don't know? AOSA use self segregation and then claim racism- what is the need for the black caucus, betv naacp etc I have listed them all in the past. So my question stands what do AOSA want? AOSA seems to think white people alive today owe some kind of debt to them so what will resolve that debt.

but that said person wasn't holding him slave because he was black it was because of his financial status. now i am not saying it is ok to do that but there is a difference between poor slave and a black slave (in the philosophical sense). the issue of slavery in the 50's and 60's was not just that there were slaves but that all blacks were forced into becoming slaves not because of a financial matter but because of the color of their skin.

So what is it exactly blacks want? Would they be happy if every black was given a 3 million dollar home, 1 billion cash in the bank, 1000 acres of land, free food from restaurants and grocery stores 2 Lamborghini's and a white house keeper, allow only blacks to be on radio and TV, blacks only allowed in sports, only black politicians, bankers and business owners? Would that give you the feel good help you need? When you govern based on race you get an economy like Detroit. The whole everything happens to me because I am black is old and worn out and because of the false cries of racism any true race issues are over looked as another "cry wolf". The fact that blacks feel the need to be called African Americans shows they do not want to be Americans, they don't see themselves as Americans. I work with a conservative black male who is highly insulted when someone calls him African American- He says I am American not African- but if you listen to the left conservative blacks just have Stockholm Syndrome (so who exactly is being racist). So please any blacks posting here if you can- tell me what exactly do you want?

What you seem to fail to understand is that when you make someone a slave based on their skin color alone you are setting a precedent. The British wanted black slaves because they didn't know the land like the natives and their skin color and features made it hard for them to blend in and not be noticed.

My point is the race card needs to be dealt with and then thrown away. People need to stop with the petty stereotypes and move on. We can't do that because people seem to have a hard time doing that. Their are white people who have never met or seen a black person outside of TV that actually think that all black people are like the ones on TV. It's sad. A friend of mine who's white is dating a black girl and he refuses to take her home to his parents for the sheer fact that he knows she will be shunned because she so happens to be black. His family threatened to disown him saying that they didn't want any "niggerbabies" born from their fling. (It can't even be called a relationship, it's demoted to a fling by them.) But his family will be the first to shout that they aren't racist because they have black friends.

This is why race needs to be talked about. Black, Hispanic, Asian, Indian, etc. people are ok to live next to, work with, eat with, play with, go to school with, but as soon as those people date outside their race it seems to be a problem.

Give it a rest Lib... Natives were practicing slavery on each other long before America was discovered. My point is that the race card is old and worn out and Obama isn't helping relations at all. His own wife tried to make an issue out of it by saying that her husband could be killed while simply going to the gas station... No shyt Sherlock, so could anyone else.

The first person in recorded history. RECORDED it's a very important word here. You are making the insinuation that No one else owned slaves before Anthony Johnson did. Wrong. Don't try to pass that crap off as fact.

The use of slaves by the British and Danish had been going on for centuries before America was "discovered". Since the British are the ones that eventually colonized the US, it is only natural to assume that those who came over here to work the land and become rich eventually had a high demand for slaves.

You also have to remember the use of Natives didn't work, and that was the first true instance of slavery in this country.

That was a very slanted view on your version of race relations and racism in America. I'll give you a prime example. The Jena 6 kids. The white kids involved hung a noose outside the school. It was considered a joke and no harm done. However if those black kids came to school wearing "death to whitey" t-shirts or some other racist epithet then they would've been escorted off the school premises in handcuffs. I'm pretty sure you know exactly what happens in the Jena 6 story after the hanging of the noose so I will not elaborate.

You speak about the Hispanic people gaining in population due to the fact that they are rapidly procreating. Yes they are doing that. You may want to mention that the majority of Spanish women are roman catholic, so they don't believe in abortions, or birth control. You also failed to mention that the majority of these women who are here illegally are the ones who are rapidly reproducing. The ones who are born here or come over here legally are living the American Dream. They are not forcing themselves and their over active uterus's on the masses because they want to guarantee their own ability to stay in the US. Their children upon birth are legal citizens, since the children are legal they are allowed state benefits. I don't have to spell out for you that their highly unethical and illegal actions is what's causing their highly successful run in the USA. It will end. If I had my way immigration laws would be changed and the definition of a citizen would also be changed to state that no child born on US soil under false pretense or by a person who had no legal right to be on said US soil, is a natural born citizen by birth. They would have to petition the state department for citizenship, they would have to go through the process like everyone else. There will be no free passes. If you are not of 2 American citizens, you better hope and pray that your parents visa's haven't expired, their green cards are in tack, etc, etc. I'm tired of this country playing hostess to so many uninvited guests.

I'll write my own blog about black/white relations.
