From News: U.S.-Backed Iraqi Government Set to Execute Gays

Should anyone have the right to kill anyone who's gay?

We shouldn't execute anyone for having different views and being different in general!

Read the Koran and report what you find on Islam and homosexuality.

Should anyone have the right to kill anyone who's straight?

are you seriously trying to have some ridiculously angry argument here....Trying to incite emotions?

so stupid...that isn't an issue...

Murder recognizes a hate crime which includes people getting killed just because they are female, black, blonde, etc....

grow up and try to make a question with an issue...You have no preface to this question..

People treat homosexuality as a disease. It's the new lepercy for today society. For the sake of the question, no, it's not right for anyone to be killed for being different. People thrive on chaos though. Some people just have to have some kind of drama in thier life. If there isn't any, then they create it. We could all look, talk, act, think, and speak alike and they wouldn't like you because you blink too much.

Where are all the bleeding hearts on the left and the feminists? It seems that in these matters of personal liberty and justice, the conservative right are the ones gushing blood from their hearts for the people of Iraq.

This issue under discussion is concerning Middle Eastern governments that desire to continue the severe laws against homosexuals and women based on the Koran s teaching on into the 21st Century. The dilemma here is whether Iraq is allowed to establish these morality laws after American blood has been spilt to gain freedom for all people?

God forbid any homosexual or woman be executed based on their sexuality. Let society accept or shun those of aberrant behavior.

What Americans have been fighting for is the opportunity to plant liberty and freedom for all people in the Middle East in order to let that "germ of freedom" and justice infect the region. Right now, many of these people would blow themselves up to enslave their own neighbor. What we are hoping is that as soon as they taste real justice and freedom ... they will instead die to set their neighbor at liberty.

That is a big idea that apparently many in our country cannot grasp.

If there is any hope at all for women, or homosexuals to live according their own conscience in Iraq ... if there is any hope of religious freedom to gain a foothold in this region, or human rights be established, Iraq s new government is what gives hope that in some distant future these people will embrace justice and freedom for all.

There is no way, America should stand for such unjust laws to be established. Every war we have ever fought has been for the establishment of justice and freedom...a noble fight and something to think about this Memorial Day.

You have got to be kidding. Of course, no state has the right to execute anyone, period. An execution of someone who has committed no crime against someone else is arguably the most egregious violations of life.

However, what you are arguing is that the government of the United States has the authority to determine the type of government of other nations and/or police the world to ensure our notions of justice. This of course, creates the false dichotomy that the government of the United States is and should be the only voice of the people of the United States. The federal government should say nothing at all - it was not instituted for such purposes. Let the people of the United States and their voluntary organizations speak their minds about these injustices.

Let's remember what it is to be constitutional republic and forget what is to be a hegemonic empire.

When World War II ended, Americans said, "Never again."

When you say supposes the notion that America has no authority, I say there is a moral authority and responsibility that super powers such as our country and a responsibility that no other nation has. Because of the evil in man s hearts, genocide and evil oppression reside on the planet in many areas. The effort to free a society of genocide and to stop aggression is a noble effort. This is what America is all about and our history proves that were we fight ... we never consume and take the land for ourselves. If you cannot see that I pity you for you have lost the concept of the "American way".

Don t tell me you don't know deep in your heart what is right. If you do not then you would not be accountable to God for your actions, would you. (That is a very deep thought.)

If for no other reason, the war was worth it if a dictator who used genocide on his own people is taken out and the planting of an anti-body of freedom is injected into that region that will fight the germ of oppression. I believe with all my heart, as George Bush, Ronald Reagan did that all people yearn for freedom to make their own choices.

You forget that it is also American blood ... the blood of volunteers ... have drenched the soils of Iraq as have the Iraq citizens who are thankful for our sacrifice and initiatives. In my books that makes the score even. If you only listen to the American press you will not find the positive stories of the great appreciation of the common people of Iraq who see our soldiers as the hero who have wrenched them free and are arming them so that they can defend themselves and overcome evil of religious and political despots. They are being given a chance probably for the first time in history.

My post was focusing on the state of women in the Middle East however. Iraq war presents an opportunity for women to gain a measure of freedom they have never known. Who is going to help them if it is not the power and influence of a super power? It is a noble thing to fight to free these women so that are able to have a choice....a real choice.

Do you know that in the Middle East men still perform female circumcision...a mutilation of their sexual organs of little girls so that they are not able to feel pleasure in sex. Do you know that there is no pain killers when this is done? Do you know that women are not allowed to own property, drive a car or talk to another male without the presence of a man. Do you know that most women are prisoners in their own home most of their lives? Do you know that women are regularly killed ... honor killings today?

If women have a chance at all to gain justice and freedom at all it will take a super power such as America to help them do it.

So don't give lecture me about "the most egregious violations of life" .... there are far worse things than death in this life.

As I said...."where are the 'bleeding' hearts?"

It's not America's business to step in and tell other countries what they can and can't do. We keep doing that and at some point it needs to stop. We are not the policemen of the world. It is not our responsiblity to protect everyone in the world, only Americans. I wish people would get that through their heads. Maybe those gays who fear being killed by their government should seek asylum in a country that protects gay people and their rights.

So, because we are a "superpower" our government has the authority to do what? Anything? Your argument seems to be "might makes right." That is the most logically and morally bankrupt line of argumentation to use in any context.
