Media and Politics

What impact does Talk Radio have on electoral politics in America? Is this impact negative or positive? Who wins? Who loses? Should there be enforced equality over the airwaves?

I think that the media is very important in deciding elections. With the exception of C-SPAN all of the major news outlets were liberally biased (with the possible exception of FOX which tries to hard to be Republican). I don't think that the bias was intentional. I just think that the media always follows the most charismatic person and this election cycle that was Barrack Obama.

Talk radio is absolutely necessary to balance out the left leaning media. The media is not doing their job as a watchdog over the current administration because they are too enamored of him. Too much power in the hands of one political party is dangerous and we must counter it. To me it seems like the media is acting like Obama won the election with 100% support from the American public when it was more like 52 or 54% what about the rest of us that do not agree with his "change". I am a Christian and former military and have traditional values, I do not like the direction we are heading at all. I am grateful for Fox news, and talk radio for giving people like me a voice.

I see your first mistake is listening to Fox News and Lush Limbaugh. Your next mistake is believing in a 2000 year old middle eastern fairytale.

Talk radio is wonderful medium for political debate, openness and expressing political views. I believe it has a definite positive effect on electoral politics because it allows listeners to hear issues discussed in far more detail than TV or newspapers.
I'm not sure what you mean by who wins or loses, but the listeners definitly have a opprtunity to be better informed on almost all crucial issues.
In America the consumer dictates winners and losers. At least that's the way it was until the government started meddeling in the private sector. So, if they listen the shows are successul. If they don't listen, the show is cancelled. So, if the consumer dictates what they want, why would we need the government to equal the playing field? But, I'd like to see them equal the playing field in NPR, since that is funded by my tax dollars and is basically as left leaning, if not more so, as all main stream media.
