Obama LOL

“I wouldn’t worry so much about the joker posters, Mr. President. If this ever catches on and your policies are reduced to three letter ridicule, well then sir, you are in real trouble.”

slings and arrows of outrageous fortune

Published 11 months ago

Minnie T Mouse and C Rich had a rather pleasant conversation on Shakespeare. I had to laugh, for Minnie's mention of "to be, or not to be" (to finish the line, "that is the question"), brought back the soliloquy I was required to memorize in high school. (Actually, I had to learn the who play.) The words come in really handy!

"Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune, or by opposing end them," were the words that naturally, silently followed.

The slings and arrows of outrageous fortune... That's as good a description as any, of the current political shenanigans in Washington.

Is it nobler in the mind to suffer them, or by opposing, end them?  No, I'd say that suffering the foolishness isn't very nobel.

Or by opposing, end them? Yes! Of course. The next thing to suggest, I suppose, is, "Get thee to a nunnery!" I know, I know, that comes after Hamlet's death talk, as I recall, wrong context. But still, I'd like to suggest it.

Arab Top Gun Pilots -- Pierre, just for you!

Published 13 months ago

Pierre, this is jut for you! We need another glass of wine! French, if you insist. :)

If you think of your worst day ever, I bet it won’t match the pilots of this plane

Arab Top Gun Pilots

This new Airbus 340-600, the largest passenger airplane ever built, sits just outside its hangar in Toulouse, France without a single hour of airtime.

Enter the Arab flight crew of Abu Dhabi Aircraft Technologies ADAT) to conduct pre-delivery tests on the ground, such as engine run-ups prior to delivery to Etihad Airways in Abu Dhabi. The ADAT crew taxied the A340-600 to the run-up area.

Then they took all Four engines to takeoff power with a virtually empty aircraft.

Not having Read the run-up manuals, they had no clue just how light an emptyA340-600 Really is.

The takeoff warning horn was blaring away in the c**kpit because they had All 4 engines at full power.

The aircraft computers thought they were trying to take off, but it had not been configured properly (flaps/slats, etc..)

Then one of the ADAT crew decided to pull the circuit breaker on the Ground Proximity Sensor to silence the alarm. This fools the aircraft into thinking it is in the air.

The computers automatically released all the Brakes and set the aircraft rocketing forward.

The ADAT crew had no idea that this is a safety feature so that pilots can't land with the brakes on.

Not one member of the seven-man Arab crew was smart enough to throttle back the engines from their max power setting, so the $200 million brand-new Aircraft crashed into a blast barrier, totaling it.

The extent of injuries to the crew is unknown due to the news blackout in the major media in France and elsewhere

Coverage of the story was deemed insulting to Muslim Arabs.

The photos are starting to leak out.

Airbus $200,000,000. Nice.

Actual price - outfitted as is,

well over $350,000,000!

Truth in Name proposal

Truth in Name

do it rightI propose a Truth in Name law. "Stimulus Package" is just another pretty name in the garden Government grows. Are we surprised the pretty name stinks? You -do- know the truth about it?

It's a challenge to remember what some of those bills truly are, that grow in Congress' garden. They're very creative, and Congress doesn't need to read before passing. Pretty as they are, the names rarely have anything to with what they represent. The names they choose are plainly deceptive. Maybe they do that, to get us to easily follow without thought?
(I wonder, did they think about them?)

That's why I advocate a Truth in Name law. Give bills and such honest, truthful names.
For instance, instead of Stimulus Package, apply Truth in Name and call it something like -
Economic Meltdown Package, or Government Thievery Package. Maybe Robbing the Future Package.

Do you think Congress would pass a Truth in Name law? I didn't think so.
But I'm curious. I'd like to know what you think.

What bills/proposals/packages would you subject to Truth in Name?
Stimulus Package? Fairness Doctrine? Patriot Act? NAFTA?
