→ True about listening to context and tone. I did not hear a racist tone in this one. But if I were of Pakistani origin, would those words perhaps bring back bad memories about some other events? I was surprised to hear that Paki and raghead are terms considered derogatory or expressions of low opinions. I think every nationals have a term that they do not...

→ Of course they're serious! And if only the the media would have a blackout of sort - it might actually happen. Go pretend you're having Chinese food somewhere. I'd like to see where the hearing would be held in Capitol Hill. Who else might be called to testify? What would they be wearing, if any? What evidence might be presented?

United States turned over "Green Zone" to the Iraq - 11 months ago

→ I don't think we have much of a choice, the turn over was part of the deal. My understanding is that the UN thingy ended December 31st. The SOFA takes over from January 1 onward. Besides we need to move on, we can't afford many more years of subsidizing this Iraq project. Our deficit is running high, and they're sitting on their oil revenue surplus.
