I agree with you on the inner-cities. Policies are not currently conducive to a fruitful business climate. Market oriented change is needed.
And I agree, those who legally own guns outside the cities boast far different statistics. Inner-cities typically harbor illegal gun trafficking - making the situation on guns in cities even more controversial. There needs be be a way to address that beyond frivolous restriction on gun owners who legally and respectfully own them.
I am in favor of waiting periods... I see them as the best way forward in securing the right of a gun owner to own while also cutting back on violent impulsive crime. The question, like you infer, is where the regulators decide to draw the final line.

People would not have a problem with waiting periods if that is all they were looking for but as you know that would only be one bill or a stepping stone for liberals with too many causes.
These anti-gunners will not stop until there is no guns on the street. You know that and I know that.
Obama is very smart. He will pass anti gun laws in the US via some UN or World law. It is coming.
if you took away all the inner city crime and all the illegal crime our stats would not look as bad. Illegals do not need to be explained away but the inner city is a bit more interesting. Liberals have been running the inner city now for years. Detriot, California, Chicago, Philadelphia, Boston. these cities have the hightest tax, the hightest unemplyment, the hightest drug use, the hightest murder rate, the highest suicide rate etc................................................................................
Time to lower tax's and create jobs. More jobs less crime. Less crime less opportunity for our freedoms to be taken away. The societla climate added fuel to Obamas fire to change to face our our country. It is a crime.
Our government shipped jobs over seas and now the people are paying. It is time for our politicians to start paying and i assume if it gets much worse they will. People are starting to feel deperate.
It will be taken back !!!

One of the key law changes in Canada, specifically western Canada, was the implementation of longer waiting periods for purchasing guns. This, by many studies, has been tied directly to the decrease in gun violence. Basic theory - if you need a gun right now, at this very moment, there is not likely a very positive reason. The waiting period cut back on impulsive violent gun crime thus reducing the overall numbers generally.
I am not so naive to think that such a law would decrease inner-city gun violence in gangs and the like, they already get their guns illegally anyway.
I was not calling for increased regulation or anything, just asking for your thoughts, since in Canada the waiting periods have been heavily tied to a drop in violent gun crimes as a whole.

Scott I always thought you were a little brighter than youve been leading on lately. So you are saying tougher laws will decrese the murder rate in the US. Is that what you are saying. Canada has tougher laws so by the time the bad guy gets the gun and bullets he is tired.
Would you like the gun stats for Philly, Washington or Chicago, or how about California?????? Would you brother they have the toughest gun laws and the highest murder rate.

Tell them and don't hold back. what you tell them they hate. just look at their comments. bush and conservatives ruined this country. It's not our eleted officials that jbew exactly what the hell was going on and the media feed us like children. we ate it and now we havent a clue what we ate.

I'm curious on your thoughts.
While Canada may have more guns per capita and less violence, Canada also has generally stricter gun control laws... something most gun advocates in the US are usually against. Would you be in favor of increased gun control laws and waiting periods in order to really use Canada as a comparable environment?

You obviously prefer to battle against an effect, rather than cause. If gun violence, as you propose, has reached levels of national public health emergency, then by all means call in the Government National Guard to arrest all the guns and put the users in quarantine. Then when you find yourself arrested for presuming to post this article, don't expect voices to speak on your behalf to be very loud. You will have helped escort freedom of speech to silence by your overthrow of the second amendment.
