USA Today - Voters in the heart of the Swiss Alps on Sunday passed legislation banning naked hiking after dozens of mostly German nudists started rambling through their picturesque region.

By a show of hands citizens of the tiny canton (state) of Appenzell Inner Rhodes voted overwhelmingly at their traditional open-air annual assembly to impose a 200 Swiss franc ($176) fine on violators.

The American way to keep people ignorant on the natural experience of the human body, birth and death is in other cultures, confusing.
You touch on two interesting points.
The first is your desire to not have children (probably you, too) see naked bodies. This may be contrary to someone else's desire to be naked, and to see others naked. You both have freedom to pursue your happiness, but have different meanings to your pursuits and what defines your happinesses.

The second is what you name a democratic decision, contrasted by a senate decision.
The voice of any mob is not necessarily a voice of any good. Yet it is preferable to the voice that represents many more. The voice of a community saying it wants to maintain a clarified ban on nudity gives those who want to be nude the option to go to another place, where nudity is accepted. The voice of any representative senate would endeavor to make all happiness the same, without individual distinction.

To impose nudity in a community that objects, is violation of freedom. At the same time, to inhibit nuditiy in a community that embraces it, that, too, is a violation of freedom. With each community making its own decision, at least there is the option for each town to, individually, make the decision according to its people.

Go to a pool in Germany, plenty of people are running around naked. First time I went to a pool all the kids were naked. Needless to say I looked at my mom, looked at the other kids, looked at my mom again, took off my bathing suit and ran around naked too. It was so nice and freeing. Lol.

What does it matter if they re nude? At least the aren't hiding anything.

what about the children? They would be forced to see naked members of the opposite sex and would likely be traumatized for the rest of their life! and besides, this decision was made by democracy, and not in a senate but among common peoples..

You are so funny!
The facts that make man human, or animals animals, from birth to procreation to death, seem to be off limits in our society. We tend to treat the natural as somehow, offensive.
Bodies as God made them, so to speak, are quite lovely. But I would agree, there are some bodies I would prefer to not see.
