Climate change is shrinking sheep Climate change is shrinking sheep

Submitted by Pierre Sarkozy | 9 months ago

BBC - Climate change is causing a breed of wild sheep in Scotland to shrink, according to research. Scientists say milder winters help smaller sheep to survive, resulting in this "paradoxical decrease in size". Classic evolutionary theory would predict that wild sheep gradually get bigger, as the stronger, larger animals survive into adulthood and reproduce.

Well, they don't always kill stock. If a deer eats a little too much mcdonalds they'll gladly eat it.

You are right about having better fish and game laws, you can get a booklet with all the laws, in Illinois you can't. They don't want you to know them, no kidding a warden told me that.

Their releasing wolves in Illinois, though now they say they came from Wisconsin. The state says they are Endangered Species and can't be killed. Everyone I know is going to shoot and bury. Same would go for cougars.

Well at least we have better laws than most states. In Missouri if you catch a cougar killing your livestock you can shoot to kill. Unlike places like PROCA, were shooting one is illegal no-matter what.

Spread your hand, a cougars pawprint is close to that size just a little smaller. I have seen the prints out west. If you have them around they leave a lot of prints as they travel constantly. They are in Iowa and heading west, there are probably some moving into MO, they go where the deer and stock is.

Yeah, in Missouri the MDC still says cougars don't live here. And when they do they say they are exremely rare. Tell that to the countless huge feline pawprints I've seen. Either we have cougars or the Bobcats are gigantic.

The state also said songbirds were declining due to habitat destuction, completely omitting the fact crow numbers have exploded, and they are notorious bird nest robbers eating eggs and young.

Rabbits are very sparse and the state claims habitat again omitting the fact the Ag dept pushed fescue grass as pasture grass and roadside grass, problem is a fungus grows on it that kills rabits when ingested.

They also omitted the fact that coyotes decimated the groundhog population. Groundhogs made holes that were used by rabbits to evade predators. With the holes gone the rabbits were cleaned up by the coyotes.

Governments are pretty bad at figuring out cause and effect.

Something like that most likely happened. Curious how scientists are always finding justifications for Global Warming when it's supposed to be fact isn't it? And the does got smaller because the breeding bucks got smaller.

Or did they do something so embarrassing they are actually going to become two inches tall?

Deer got smaller in Illinois because everbody kills off the big bucks allowing the inferior bucks to breed. I have seen the big bucks go from 275-290 lbs to 150-170lbs in 25 years. The does are smaller too.
