USA Today - Sarah Palin has no intention of retiring from public life, the soon-to-be ex-Alaska governor's spokeswoman said Sunday, but top Republicans are expressing befuddlement at the decision by one of the party's leading presidential prospects to give up her job.

P. WATCH, Be wise and keep in Mind this....Both administration have been Guilty of Promoting a Bad Name for Democracy and has to get it Right...America is not a Perfect Union... Trust in Political Parties, Parliaments and Elected Leaders are sinking dramatically...Scandals mount and Elected Governments default on their Promises and Vows to control corruption and improve the Welfare of Ordinary People.

I speak for her in this instance only because it was pretty obvious what her comment meant. I mean it's common knowledge; the "can see it from my house" line was quite commonly used as a joke among people for a while (I believe Tina Fey created/popularized it on SNL, but its reach was far beyond that).

What pressing, recent scandals or news items do you think we should be discussing instead in our spare time? The Watergate scandal? Dukakis in the tank?

It's big news and there's lots of media coverage on it right now. It's an interesting topic. People are going to discuss it.

If that's the part of Emily s phrasing that you're hung up on then you're thinking far too literally. Palin and her backers said multiple times that she could see Russia from Alaska and that this constituted foreign policy experience, which is an indefensible statement. The "I can see it from my house!" part is a common satiric exaggeration (though not much of one) that people often use as shorthand when referencing that indefensible statement in conversation - everyone knows that - and Emily herself was clearly halfway joking.

Agreed. is this not how all our politicians lead. no one reads the bills yet they are so smart. They vote on things they have not read nor do they understand. they know the bill number and who authored it.

A good leader pauses, gathers facts from nuetral parties, weights the options, decides which one is best for the people as a whole.

Question: can she do that? Can Obama do that? Has he done that?

wandler you must agree with the current policy and actions of the current administrtion. Not a word out of you but mocking conservatives.

You seem to pop up on posts on Palin pretty quickly and any others critical of the GOP, I think you might need to shed that moderate label you are claiming and fess up to the liberal one. It just amazes me how Palin is the top conversation among liberals. Why? Palin is a solid conservative who did great things for state. most governors just run their states in the ground ie: Illinois, NJ, NY etc. very few states are run as well as Alaska and Florida.

Do I like Palin YES. Did I support her last election. YES She was by far the most qualified and rational compared to the other three far left loones in my opinion. Was she the best person to run our country. Probably not.

I love when liberals attack her. Her family is a fine example of how liberals feel people should be able to live free without ridicule yet they throw spears, rocks, fire balls and any thing else they can. It's funny because they don't realize they do it.

My sister (the union teacher) is no different. Defend the party at all cost. More worried about sarah this weekend and the apparent ghost in the closet than how her selection is leading the country.

Reasoning moderates don't defend actions they think are undesirable, regardless of the actor. Or dismiss complex figures with puerile labels.

And they don't see the world in simple binary colors. Example: Most will acknowledge Sarah Palin is pretty smart, but believe she just doesn't know much, and holds views from the fringe on some difficult issues.

It is written that we reap what we sow. If it's astroturf, the harvest is hard for anyone to digest. So why bother?
