AP - The US Senate Judiciary Committee's top Republican said Monday he will vote against Sonia Sotomayor's confirmation as the first Hispanic justice of the US Supreme Court.

In an opinion column in USA Today, Senator Jeff Sessions of Alabama said the appeals court judge would likely win Senate confirmation but that he worried she would not resist "the siren call of judicial activism."
