Ohio Bill Would Require Consent From Men Before Abortion

Submitted by opentalk | 8 months ago

www.prochoice.org - Ohio state legislator introduced a bill, which would require written consent from the man involved with the pregnancy in order for a woman to get an abortion. If the man is unknown, this bill would force a woman to submit a list of possibilities, her doctor would have to conduct paternity tests—at the woman’s expense—and then seek the man's permission. In cases of rape or incest proof would be required.

For argument sake -

Without the man's decision to take part in the process that created a need for the abortion, there would be no need for it. Therefore the man creates the situation as much as the woman, and deserves an equal right in the outcome. It takes two to get to that point, not just one. They both have an invested interest.

You know, if equality is truly the end goal.

This bill sounds like a Victorian Era throw-back. For too long a Woman nedded a man's permission to do anything especially if it was a medical or legal matter. The machistas who wrote this bill want to subvert Roe v Wade and the progress made in the last hundred yrs.
