Not only do they have more than one TV, they have ipods, cell phones with all the extras, Wii, XBOX . . . and let's not forget beer and cigarettes. Last time I checked, none of the foregoing were necessities.
Also, I have known countless women who receive not only food stamps, but DSHS income, child support and other subsidies, but have an able-bodied, live-in partner who they conveniently don't disclose on their applications.

First let me preface this rant by stating that I know there are people out there who need this program and are truly poor.
That being said I actually wonder how the government runs this program and checks the actual need of these folks claiming that they need food stamps. I mean with congress raising the amount of money you can make and still get food stamps which I disagree with completely.
How many of these folks have more than one car, more than one TV in their homes, have cable TV, broad band internet, cell phones and have all sorts of other amenities of life that are not a need but are more wants. I think it absolutely ridiculous that people that do not have the ability to manage their own disposable income to make do for their families should just automatically be eligible for food stamps no questions asked other than how much do you make. They should have to prove that they have done every belt tightening trick they can to make ends meat first and maintain that level until they are able to come off of the program.
Yes folks this program was not designed as a lifelong status symbol it was designed to help folks get back on their feet in times of need.
I fully believe the above statement of the long and hard recession since the great one is a bunch of crap. Like I said before if people lived withing their means instead of acting like the US Government and spending money like it is burning a hole in their pocket then this country would be better off.
