I read all the posts before replying. It made me sad to know that ideas are lost in the anxiety of political events, that there was bickering instead of conversation between you and politikjoe. I did not intend to break up a fight. I appealed to you as a friend, to take a step toward civility. You are truly friend. I love your heart, and we do think a bit alike.
The time for debate is not over. It is not time to argue. Inimical words directed at each other, just distance us from each other. Can t wait for the other guy to be polite. Must begin with me, with you, to take the first step, to talk reasonably. Or agree to just argue and bicker and make a bad situation, worse.
No, the clock has not run out. It is time for clear-headed thinking. It is still time to debate, in tones that will be heard. Yes, we need fair and honest people to vote out the current administration, executive and legislative, and replace them with men and women who will carry our voices to Washington. WIthout calm reason, beginning with you and me and politikjoe,those voices will not be heard. It cannot be just you and me and our "friends" here, to proceed with common interest. I suspect that if you and politikjoe have a heart to heart talk, you may find your frustrations much the same.

Warming, cooling, we ve a cyclic climate. The earth is warming in places, cooling in others. It was happening long before the combustibles were coughing.
I do believe this article biased. It presents one side of the glaciers and polar ice. It omits the rate some American glaciers, i.e., Shasta, St Helens, Hubbard, as others around the world, i.e., Himalayas, Norway, are growing. Much of Antarctica has been cooling the past 35 years. Perhaps the most glaring omission in this article, as in most, if not all, articles that point a finger at man being the cause of global warming, is the effect of the sun and undersea volcanoes on our climate, which top the list of natural causes of climate change.
It seems to me that the distinction between man-made climate change and man-made pollution have been obfuscated. There is no doubt that the island of plastic floating the Pacific is man s doing. The fuzz that settles over the horizon on the mainland is probably a combination of pollution and natural weather conditions, as in LA, but an ugly haze nonetheless. The cooking fires of China were identified as the largest man-made pollutant. But even in the world of pollution, man s harm is diminished when compared to what the volcanoes put out. I ve heard that areas formally arid now have green growth, due to watering. Does it affect climate? Probably. On a grand scale? Doubtful, at best.
The international scientists promoting, by whatever name is currently Politically Correct, Global Warming, have a profit gain in naming man as the cause. The 31,000 scientists who signed off of Global warming last year, had their names blacklisted. http://www.politics.com/news/3303/ (There was also a video. I recently saw that another 8,000 scientists have joined the 31,000. And there are growing numbers of scientists across the globe naysaying global warming as man made.
I ve been in an active volcano. The steam vents are, literally, killers. The paths of pahoehoe or aa (lava) can sometimes be coaxed a bit here and there, but there are no man made gizmos, contraptions or magic that can control it. It takes an incredible amount of faith to believe that the effect of man is more powerful than the effect of nature.

Joe I'm furious brother. I do not have time to listen to people who voted for this guy. Bitched for the past three years about Bush and neo-cons and being racist because I'm conservaitve and no one can back it up. PW - I was not trying to draw first blood with my comment, just merely having fun. From the onset it appeared as if you thought there was no climate change and nothing going on, even naturally. That is how your comments came across. Addressing that was the point of my satire comment.
If your comments were laid out and presented like you responded to hepsy it would be much easier and far more enjoyable to converse more often with you, avoiding the names, insults, and satire on both sides.
I am just so used to your targeting and lack of discussion calling everyone socialists without hearing them that I skipped to satire.

FTR, and acknowledging I'm no expert on this, I think the direct and inferential evidence tends to prove a slowly warming earth, caused or exacerbated to a material extent by man's activities. Show less

Now I can find numerous articles on-line from trust worthy sites that will show us all that the ice has been recovering for the past 4-6 years but does it matter.

I get it. Your right. My point to Joe is there is NO debate in the Obama administration or in congress or the senate. i did not mean we can't debate here but when we do it is a joke because our government has decided our fate for us. They are not debating anything in our government. they have an agenda and they are trying to complete it by years end.
Government ran health care is done. Debate till your eyes are crossed but both Obama and FRANK have declared so. Cap & Trade is done. No Global Bullshid debate.
My point was not that PW knows best so no debate on Global Warming. Is the climate changing. Obviously. Is it man made. highly doubtfull. Does anyone have proof.Not as far as we know. Have the glaciers melted. yes. Are they coming back yes for consecutive years.

The debate on "global warming" is a waste of time, as you say, only when emotion is expressed instead of information. When there's an exchange of ideas, there is room to talk, opinions to consider. Passion is fine, too, but hardly promotes conversation, outside of its place.;)
You have lot good things to say, on global warming as well as other topics. Your passion is clear. Your content is not always clear. Is it your intention to elucidate the passion of your position, or the content of your position? I care about your heart, it is a good one, but others here won't give a rip. I will take the time to understand your point, but that's me, I like your fire. Politikjoe and CrashTack, I'm sure, will be more interested in your thoughts before your passion.

There is a debate to be had. Saying there is no debate is simply pretending there are no other opinions than your own or simply hoping you never have to defend your side. There is ample debate to be had over environmentalism and health care. Both warrant policy changes.
Our health care system sucks, it is broken. Should we go fully Euro-social? Probably not, but policy changes are needed to make health care better. Thus a debate is needed to find the best consumer market-oriented solution.
The same goes for environmental protection. There is plenty we do and have done that has hurt our environment, global warming aside. There are things we can do to make our earth nicer and cleaner for us. I love the outdoors, the mountains and oceans. I would prefer not to see them destroyed by human negligence when there are things we can do to protect them.
Oh, and not ALL African-Americans voted for Obama. That is a huge over generalization. One of my buddies who is African-America put together a whole group of African-American voters to campaign against Obama and campaign for Ron Paul here in Colorado.

If climate change causes rain and drought, hurricanes and calm weather, snow and deserts, glaciers and barren moutaintops, record river levels and dust bowls... when exactly will it be overwith? Areas have also been hitting record highs. The climate is changing. Whether you like it or not, it is. The case can still be up for debate if you like, but the science is evident that changes are occurring - whether you agree it is human or not is another issue.
