I'm not surprised at all. Go where the work is! I have friends from undergrad in Taiwan. One of them is also getting his MA while he is there. I also know a few recent grads in Hong Kong and Shanghai. If you can speak English and are willing to learn Chinese, you're in. There are similar opportunities in Singapore and Macau, too.

I know. I was more looking to how they would respond and to whom they would place blame. Not what they or the government was going to do about it - whether or not they would accept the blame as their fault for useless meddling or blame the market.

Looking no to what I think they should do, but at what they did and why it has screwed up the market.

This should be a strong message to American politicians.... will they listen?

This is a very strange post from a libertarian. The government (ie politicians) is not who creates jobs - it is the market which does so. Yes, the federal government has distorted the market so severely over the last couple decades that we face high unemployment, but your comment seems to suggest that you believe the government should be doing more? Am I misunderstanding you?

There is no doubt that China is an awesome place to jump-start your career. Back in the U.S., I would be intern No. 3 at some company or selling tickets at Lincoln Center.
