Since Mass only requires people under the age of 16 to wear helmets, the mini-controversy is about what? Maybe he should have wrapped himself and his children up in bubble wrap to be extra safe...

No one should be looking to the President to set an example of how to live. If you want an example of how to live, look to your family, friends, and loved ones - people you know and respect. The Cult of The Presidency has gone too far.

I say good for Obama for not wearing a helmet - because he didn't feel like it. I rode my bike everywhere, all the time, almost every day from age 5-12 and a) never wore a helmet b)never picked up an injury. This all occurred in a major urban area, Virginia Beach, VA - not some isolated community in the middle of nowhere.

if its a law then he should be treated as any other u.s citizen. yes, i think its stupid but im pretty sure at least one person in the world has died by not wearing one on a friendly little bike ride

No helmets. No seatbelts. You do get medical coverage if you get your brains bashed in or fly through the windshield and spend 6 months in a vegetative state. Then you come out of it. You blow through a straw to roll around your house that cost thousands to modify. All on the taxpayer dime because you didn't want to wear a seatbelt or a helmet.

Imposing helmets is useless. Allow for personal decisions. If someone wears no helmet, falls and dies -- it's natural selection -- weeding out the unintelligent from society who fail to make wise decisions. Harsh, but I don't care.

The bigger question is, what's wrong with making a personal choice that isn't Politically Correct? Or is it a law there? Auwe! (Shame) Not on Obama, but that a law like that could even be thought of, let alone pass, if it was.
