Hey just because you fall into the category doesn't mean the argument is false. I'm not talking about this site or you. However logging into a chat room withan anonymous handle gives the user a freedom that used to only be found making crank phone calls. It is easy to say things when you are anonymous and 1000 miles away. You've obviously never talked to a person that thought he was a good shot with a gun or was a good card player becasue he was good online. You'll learn. BTW- I didn't say I was 100% behind the theory. I was making a point. Which you missed.

A pc allows a child to 'interract' without ever having to meet someone face to face. Our country is full of children and young adults that think they can say anything they want because they are interracting in cyberspace. They think it makes them outspoken and worldy. They don't learn the consequences of their actions. It is one thing to make a statement online. It does not translate in face to face encounters. They don't learn how to negotiate. They don't learn how to properly interact. Boys don't learn the proper way to interract with women .
A pc and the internet are two of the greatest innovations this country has ever seen. My point was simply I can make the argument about it's downside. Just like your argument about public schools. It's just one side of the coin. There is more ammunition for keeping children out of a public school than for keeping one in. You have a narrow minded, inexperienced view on things. It's not your fault. You just don't know what you don't know.
The article isn't that biased. They reported what happened. The state had no business ruling her education is being hindered. They don't take Catholic schools to task do they?

A pc obviously doesn't limit her intellectual growth though. It may expose her to things that she's not socially or emotionally ready for, but it is an aid in learning. Saying a pc limits her intellectual growth is like saying a library limits her intellectual growth. It's just not true.

It just looks they are overstepping their boundaries. Was this specifically what the father wanted? They should have ruled in his favor if so. Not arbitrarily saying she is being short-changed in her education. I mean they should say the father has equal say in her education, not rule that her education is suspect because of the religous aspect. One ruling is within their scope, the other should not be.

Nice post. I'm totally ignorant on other countries approach to education. Especially at the most important level-the formative years. I don't know anything about the statistics but I'd bet the farm you are correct about environment being a greater factor than dollars spent.

No. It is not a funding issue that creates environments, it is much more. Much of that is beyond the schools control. Diversification and choice would improve these options.
Like my prior comment says, look int the Belgian and Swedish education systems. They are more market driven than our own and far more successful. They are student focused and choice driven. They outperform American students again and again in international testing.

Actually, studies show that money has a lot less to do with a schools ability to educate than most people think. It is more about environment, will, and parents/influences. Some of the highest performing schools in the country spend the least per-child.
If you are interested in true education reform, check out the unique school choice programs in Belgium and Sweden. There, money is tied to each student equally, not to schools. And students can choose where they want to go (they are not assigned by districts) - this forces schools to compete, offering special programs and keeping their academic options strong, making all the schools strive to be better - everyone wins.
Something as simple as increased 'choice' would dramatically reform and better American education.

The education system sucks in the inner city because they don't have as much money as suburban schools to hire teachers, when they actually need more money for security guards, and after school activities.
Of course, if their were more conservatives who wanted to be teachers, we could do things your way now couldn't we?

I will not even go into the stats both academically and socially for hoemschooled kids.
You liberals should concentrate on improving the inner city. YOUR education system is a failure because it is a liberal program ran by liberals. The drop out rate for the inner city is silly. Silly liberal policies. Unemployment in the inner city is double in some areas compared to the suburbs. WHY? Because liberals make too many bumb assz laws and raise and create out of thin air more tax.
Isnt there a blog at the daily beast or mslsd you can go to. I am sure there are a lot of people just like you who are dependant of Jon Stewart for news.
Don't bother responding back. Some of the more respected memebers of this site blasted you the last 48hrs and you are not worth anyones time. You never research fact. You just spew like your federal liberal super stars.
