Ah,what's the matter, someone using facts against your inbred hate sure sucks don't it??You refute nothing and still proudly proclaim your ignorance of facts. Everyone reading this knows who the liar and bigot is. Move along, little confused leftist, you are not even close to anything resembling a challenge. Once again ,the only argument the left has is with the truth.Be an obedient little liberal and go back to acting like a child and demonstrating as much grasp of reality as a 4 year old.

f**k yes.

But I don't "need" to. I choose to.

Strong language is colourful, expressive and attracts attention. It spices up what might otherwise have been dull, technical discourse and adds emphasis and emotional content.

Your absurd contention that its use betrays a lack of skill or experience in debating says a lot about your inexperience, as well as your immaturity and priggish nature.

Profanity is a fact of life. Grow up and get used to it.

Nice attempt at obfuscation, but extremely transparent and disingenuous.

>The Republican Party was not so
>badly split as the Democrats by the
>civil rights issue.

As any real student of American politics knows, that's because the Democratic party contained a number of Democrats, elected in southern states, who were far to the right of most Republicans. As you should know, at that time in U.S. history it was more difficult for a member of Lincoln's party to get elected south of the Mason-Dixon line than for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle.

It was the southern "Dixiecrats" who tried to block civil rights legislation and integration -- not liberals or moderates. To claim, as you did, that that means that it was "the left" that opposed civil rights is astonishingly dishonest.

Yes, for some reason, Al Gore Sr. of Tennessee voted against the 1964 Civil Rights Act, later calling that the biggest mistake of his life. To keep things in perspective, it should be noted that Gore was also was one of only three Democratic senators from the 11 former Confederate states who refused to sign the 1956 Southern Manifesto opposing integration.

Your claim that it was "leftists" who tried to block civil rights has been exposed for the vile calumny that it is.

If there is a bigot here, it is clearly you. And you are clearly a liar.

Is there some reason you need to use foul language to express yourself? When you stoop to using foul language your argument is voided out. paleryder used historical fact from the Congressional record to prove his argument. You might benefit from taking a debate class to learn the proper way to debate issues. Fact will always be your best friend, but that requires research and learning, time and effort, willingness and openness. I think you will find even opposing opinions can be discussed without the use of foul language.

*Gasp* The NAACP wants more political leaders who are African American. What a scandal!!!

You are correct that NAAP wants more African American leaders. I think it looks bad because it looks like they are judging not by the content of their heart but by the color of their skin. It is a fine edge and I wonder is the NAACP equally supportive of the advancement of conservative African Americans? I would rather have honest leaders of any skin color, but it looks like we are trying to fill some kind of quota based on skin color. That sounds racist to me.

Congressional record-The Republican Party was not so badly split as the Democrats by the civil rights issue. Only one Republican senator participated in the filibuster against the bill. In fact, since 1933, Republicans had a more positive record on civil rights than the Democrats. In the twenty-six major civil rights votes since 1933, a majority of Democrats opposed civil rights legislation in over 80 % of the votes. By contrast, the Republican majority favored civil rights in over 96 % of the votes.

The Republican pro-civil rights forces were blessed with gifted leadership. Although Senate minority whip Thomas Kuchel initially managed the party's forces, it increasingly became clear to Democrats, Republicans, the press, civil rights groups, and the White House that Everett McKinley Dirksen was the key man in the entire civil rights legislative effort.
Final Votes
Under the Senate rules, after cloture is invoked each senator may speak for one hour on the bill or pending amendments. Although southerners called up many amendments between June 10 and June 17 to stall action further, the Senate leadership allowed only those it wanted to be adopted. Most of the amendments were defeated by large margins. On June 17, the Senate voted by a 76 to 18 margin to adopt the bipartisan substitute worked out by Dirksen in his office in May and to give the bill its third reading. Two days later, the Senate passed the bill by a 73 to 27 roll call vote. Six Republicans and 21 Democrats held firm and voted against passage. In all, the the 1964 civil rights debate had lasted a total of 83 days, slightly over 730 hours, and had taken up almost 3,000 pages in the Congressional Record.

Robert Byrd and Al Gore sr. led the filibusters of civil rights laws...kind of sucks for you that fact is in the congressional record and not just delusional leftist loons minds. Anymore foul mouth stupidity you care to publish???..we just can't wait for your wonderful insight and bigotted hate to continue to paint the real picture of what modern liberlism has become..best of luck for your future...Paleryder

the same foul, fascist douche bags who today strive mightily to divide Americans by race, class and perceived "patriotism" in order to maintain their privileges at the expense of their victims.
This is the PERFECT description of Obama, Pelosi and Harry.
BTW you need to learn how to spell more than just 4 letter words. Since you are a liberal you really should learn how to spell victim being as it is the liberal battle cry.

I see you are an admirer of the "Big Lie" technique of propaganda.

It sure wasn't leftists who tried to block civil rights in the U.S. or tried to keep black kids from attending previously white-only schools.

No, you lying fuck, that was your brethren on the right of the political spectrum -- the same foul, fascist douchebags who today strive mightily to divide Americans by race, class and perceived "patriotism" in order to maintain their privileges at the expense of their vicitms.

The American bald eagle is a carrion-eater, doncha know.

The NAACP doesn't just want political leaders that are black. They could care less if they are leaders or are qualified. The ONLY thing that matters is the color of skin. The definition of racism.Yet hailed by left-wing loons as acceptable public policy. The same left that fought the civil rights laws and tried to block black children from going to schools.Exemplars of citizenry aren't they??

Qualified should be the standard but the NAACP is a racist organization that will demand a black mayor, if that reasoning is valid we should not have a black president.

If we use their standard of choosing a leader the chosen one Obama would not be eligible to be president. The whole Baltimore government is ran by blacks and guess what- the whole government is corrupt. It's all about Race, Race, Race,Race, Race, Race,Race, Race, Race,Race, Race, Race,Race, Race, Race,Race, Race, Race,Race, Race, Race,Race, Race, Race,Race, Race, Race,Race, Race, Race,Race, Race, Race,Race, Race, Race,Race, Race, Race,Race, Race, Race.
