The democrats are not going to heed any scientific evidence that refutes global warming no matter how credible. The truth doesn't matter. The real plan is to tax everthing from power plants to cows in the name of stoping global warming and so much the better when the cooling period that real science may be predicting occurs because they will claim success.

Retraction: Debating in a serious manner would be like teaching the proverbial pig to sing, just get irritated and p**s off the pig. Nice try going to GreenPeace for your sourcing of Heartland's contributors. Try finding them on their IRS returns. They are posted.

Yay for the U.S. education system.

If may behoove those of you who are so certain that the combustion engine is the greatest culprit in climate change might need to study the cycles of sun spot activity which has been recorded since the telescope was invented.
Consider that one sun spot has been measured to be 40 times the size of the planet earth. Now that would have an impact on this whole planet would it not?
http://www.windows.ucar.edu/tour/link=/sun/activity/sunspot_history.html
Excerpt from this site:
"It would appear that sunspots not only have a connection to geomagnetic activity at Earth, but they play a role in climate change as well. In the last thousands of years, there have been many periods where there were not many sunspots found on the Sun. The most famous is a period from about 1645 to 1715, called the Maunder Minimum. This period corresponds to the middle of a series of exceptionally cold winters throughout Europe known as the Little Ice Age.
Scientists still debate whether decreased solar activity helped cause the Little Ice Age, or if the cold snap happen to occur around the same time as the Maunder Minimum.
In contrast, a period called the Medieval Maximum, which lasted from 1100 to 1250, apparently had higher levels of sunspots and associated solar activity. This time coincides (at least partially) with a period of warmer climates on Earth called the Medieval Warm Period. Sunspot counts have been higher than usual since around 1900, which has led some scientists to call the time we are in now the Modern Maximum."
Scientist say that we are in the downward cycle of sunspot activity and climates are beginning to cool as is the usual pattern and what the science is showing now.
Global warming planet wide due to the combustion engine is not proven and disputed among 700 of the world's most recognized scients. Mr. Gore on his lists them also. It can't be both ways.

As I propose wind bag, put forth your alleged rationale point by point and we can have a rationale discussion. There is no right wing or left wing in science. There is a scientific method. Actually using no science what so ever and just historic logic, your delusion has already been put to sleep. There is a consensus, the debate is closed
Sounds more like Hitler than objective thinking. Let us not forget the funding provided to institutions to pump out the tripe you believe. It's publish or parish time, they don't publish the right stuff they don't get funded, that is why so many Professor Emeritus' have blown the whistle, they are free from the whore house. Cut the blather and post your side of the story point by point.

Think you might want to get your facts straight. Of course you could read just about anything in Wikipedia in a couple minutes, fact though are often lacking. Here are the facts on the Heartland Institute. Q: What is the history of The Heartland Institute?
A: The Heartland Institute is a national nonprofit organization headquartered in Chicago. It was founded in 1984 by Chicago businessman David H. Padden, who currently serves as the organization’s Chairman Emeritus.
The Heartland Institute is a genuinely independent source of research and commentary. It is not affiliated with any political party, business, or foundation. Its activities are tax-exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. [top]

Well that just shows you for what you are, they don't make up data, the publish and comment on peer reviewed articles, the fact that you had to look up the Hartland Institute indicates that again you are woefully lacking on information that actually discussed the lack of scientific vigor. You are just another wind bag that only knows what pablum he has been fed by the not so main stream media.

"Walter F. Buchholtz, an ExxonMobil executive, serves as Heartland's Government Relations Advisor, according to Heartland's 2005 IRS Form 990, pg. 15. "
therefore i cannot take anything from the "Institute" formed by an ExxonMobil exec seriously when it comes to Global Warming because it hurts his company. sorry, provide someone with credibility.

No, I just dig a bit deeper than you, no both sides of the argument, which you obviously don't. Try this!
Recent Data Should be Greeted with Skepticism. I'm calling you out, you make a single point that is valid and I will rebut it point by point references included. It's because of people like you, our country is going to be in deeper economic down turn, won't need to wait for the answers, socialism is failing all over the world.
An article in today's issue of the journal Nature argues that, in defiance of decades of raw temperature data showing Antarctica is cooling, the continent is actually warming.
James M. Taylor, senior fellow for environment policy at The Heartland Institute, warns about assigning too much weight to the study. You may quote from this statement or contact Taylor directly at jtaylor@heartland.org or 941/776-5690.
"I would be quite wary of assigning much value to this article. Raw temperature data and a number of studies over many years have determined that Antarctica is cooling. Now we have a single article, reliant on subjective data interpretation from well-known global warming alarmists, saying the opposite.
"For a long time now, Antarctic cooling has been a stone in the shoe of global warming alarmists. Now, conveniently, those who regularly blog on an alarmist Web site claim they have 'statistically smoothed' the data to show Antarctica is warming, even though surface temperature stations show a significant, long-term cooling trend.
"The article appears to argue that due to incredibly bad luck, many temperature stations scattered throughout the continent are located in random, isolated pockets of cooling that defy the overall warming trend. The odds of this being the case are quite remote, and the theory is notably short on reliable evidence. Adding to the dubious nature of the study's conclusion is the authors' self-interest in silencing an embarrassing mountain of raw temperature data that contradict the authors' global warming theory.
"It is funny how global warming alarmists worship at the altar of alleged 'consensus,' but then totally abandon the appeal to consensus when it is convenient to do so."

If you are in love with a half century of data published by a scientist in Washington, how about posting 2 centuries of data from NASA in the same period. That's even having James Hansen, Fraud in Chief, cooking the books. Only in a government would he still be employed.
