You don't have mail You don't have mail

Submitted by EmilyR | 1 year ago

USA Today - Facing a growing deficit, declining mail volume and cash-flow problems, the U.S. Postal Service may drop one day of delivery, postal officials told Congress today.

Last year saw the largest drop in mail volume — 202 billion pieces, more than 9 billion fewer than 2007.

Yes - privatize or allow competition. The lines at post offices are ridiculous. Seeing empty counters during the Christmas rush and employees close to take routine breaks when the line is out the door is really frustrating.

it might help them if they didn't pay them as much and/or if they made it easier to fire them. People that I've met say that it practically "takes an act of congress" to fire someone after they have passed their probationary period and almost anyone can do 90 days. Some are one year but most are 90

Even the US government's own studies and reports conclude that the Post Office offers deplorable service... nice try defending them, but even they admit they suck.

Did you actually read my post? It wasn't during Christmas, it was correctly marked my local post office marked it Damaged in transit. It was a box in a box the interior box (a vintage knife)was removed and the packing stuffed back in. Clearly the packing didn't jump back in if it accidently opened and the interior box fell out. I did not infer that we should privatize the mail but FEDEX or one of the other private carriers would of treated me differently in the same situation and would of made restitution. Not a stupid comment like I should of insured it against them stealing it.

This is for all of you people who want to privitize the Post Office..why dont all of you go jump in a lake? My late father used to work for the Post Office and we have got the cheapest rates in the world.First of all.when something goes wrong dont blame the post office. Some of you mail packages with an incorrect address and others mail stuff mostly as christmas. But a great deal of people who mail stuff out havent kept in touch with these people for years. If you move..it is up to you to get a change of address from the post office.Your mail will be forwarded to you after the new address is in the system.Secondly...half of you people send stuff to people with the wrong addresses. And this is one of the reasons why it comes back.Look..if you dont have the right address...it isnt the Post Offices fault! And if you dont keep in touch with people after a few years and send them a card and package..I would send it back to you and tell you to kiss me where the sun dont shine!Dont blame the post office when it comes to your writing...some of your hand writing resembles a third graders. If your hand writing isnt clear...what is a mailman to do? And if you send a letter to a part of town and there are 5 people with the same last name..dont you think that it is up to you to give the mailman the proper house? If any of you people dont do this and are so engrossed with these idiots that you see on talk shows and something does go wrong...blame yourself and leave the post office alone!

Whoa!? Less mail service... can we get less service than the so-called service we are already 'provided' with?

Given what we pay for we should get 24/7/365 service and a smile at the counter!

Personally I think the postal service should go to being open 3 days a week and only deliver to residences once a week. It's not that hard for people to stop by their post office and pick stuff up. If you need something delivered sooner then there is always the private sector to take care of those needs.

The post office should limit bulk ad delivery and junk mail should be banned.

I had a package that was mailed through the postal service and it was opened and the contents stolen while in transit. When I asked at the post office what would be done about it I was told I should of gotten insurance on it from the postal service. The mafia never had it so good. I was supposed to get insurance from the ones who stole it. No wonder people are not using the US Postal Service.
