I didn't even begin to think of that. As much as I have hope for humanity, you are ultimately right; they will each be concerned with their own agenda. That will ultimately get in the way of honesty.

Sitting down to a chat is just what Obama is proposing.
Progress, of course, can be made through discussion, if both are honestly discussing. What would suggest that either side would honestly discuss?

We are talking about two different world comings to an agreement.
It isnt going to happen anytime soon, but if we can bring them to our level, over time things will change.

Take note that I never called this a solution. Even if I did, it wouldnt be a quick chat, a kiss on the cheek and we all go home hand in hand.
The solution was presented in the schoolyard example, yes; but in the reality of what the world faces today such a simple solution will never be brought about by as simple an idea of sitting down and having a talk.
Progress of course can be made through discussion, and it wont hurt anything.

Their ideology does not permit concessions they will only expect them from us. They will lie to fit their agenda as lying to infidels is permisable. Read the Koran.
NATO couldn't fight their way out of a paper bag. Our guys will change the situation and the Taliban knows that and that is the reason they are willing to talk. Read the Koran and you will understand what I am saying is true.

What the taliban is, is quite demonstrative in its aversion to to moderation in anything. Their treatment of women is nothing better than draconian.

My argument is practical....you can't beat somebody out of an ideology. But, you can show them the benefits of moderation, try to work with them, bring them into the fold.
Plus, it might be NATO's only shot. As of now, they're losing. Badly.

As a woman you should see the folly of dealing these people. Moderate Taliban is a contradicion in terms. They kill little girls that have the gaul to go to school. Then kill the teacher and her parents.
