Submitted by MrsPresident | 13 months ago

Yahoo - TRENTON, N.J. – A 14-year-old New Jersey girl has been accused of child pornography after posting nearly 30 explicit nude pictures of herself on MySpace.com — charges that could force her to register as a sex offender if convicted.

Sexting...I sat next to a group of kids who were doing that at my Track meet...they were just obnoxious. It shouldn't be a crime or anything, but God they look like fools. I guess that is their punishment.

This is a sad thing. I agree with Scott, there are bigger fish to fry. I have a friend who was sexually active at the age of 15. She was sleeping with her boyfriend who was 14 at the time, and his parents found out and had her arrested. She now has to register as a sex offender every where she goes, and she is treated no differently by the state as a child rapist.

jc, I couldn't agree more. Our jobs as parents is to keep our kids safe, not be their best friends. The last generation has gone overboard with trying to become "one of the kids" and are neglecting their responsibilities.

This is a gross misinterpretation and complete obstruction of the law. Police need to focus their criminal efforts on real sex offenders instead of waisting their time on these issue.

There needs to be a different approach and system to address issues such as these, perhaps an education and parental focus - not criminal prosecution.

This is very unfortunate, it is exactly why I would not let my kids just run free on the internet. When my kids are old enough they will not have a computer in their room. They will have to use the computer in the living room where it can be properly supervised.

I will not allow it's use when an adult is not home, etc. The kids probably will not like it but it will keep them safe.

This girl really does need help. She wanted her boyfriend to see the pictures and while I feel she is too young to be sharing pictures like that with a boyfriend she should have realized that anything posted on MySpace or any other Social Network becomes viewable to the public unless there are some privacy controls for that.

I think she needs help, not legal action!
