LA Times - Fritz Henderson, the automaker's new chief executive, says General Motors will enter bankruptcy if it has to and that the company has been 'making contingency planning' for the process, if it cannot restructure by itself.

GM has been effectively bankrupt since the end of last year. Attempting to plug the leak with tax dollars should have been the first clue however, as is often the case, the band played on.
