Angie Harmon: I'm Not Racist Because I Disagree With Obama

Angie Harmon is not afraid to come out and say she doesn’t like how President Obama is handling the job — but she’s sick of having to defend herself from being deemed a racist. "Here's my problem with this, I'm just going to come out and say it. If I have anything to say against Obama it's not because I'm a racist, it's because I don't like what he's doing as President and anybody should be able to feel that way, but what I find now is that if you say anything against him you're called a racist," Harmon told Tarts at Thursday’s Los Angeles launch of the new eyelash-growing formula, Latisse. "But it has nothing to do with it, I don’t care what color he is. I’m just not crazy about what he's doing and I heard all about this, and he’s gonna do that and change and change, so okay … I'm still dressing for a recession over here buddy and we've got unemployment at an all-time high and that was his number one thing and that's the thing I really don't appreciate. If I'm going to disagree with my President, that doesn't make me a racist. If I was to disagree with W, that doesn't make me racist. It has nothing to do with it, it is ridiculous. " Speaking of dislikes, the starlet has also had enough of the double-standards in the media. "I do think McCain would have done a better job, only because I think he has more experience. I also think if W or John McCain or Reagan would have gone and done a talk show, the backlash would have been so huge and in his face, and ‘What is our president doing? How unclassy!’ But Obama does it and no one says anything," Harmon said. And in spite of the scornful opinions most of her Tinseltown counterparts have shared on Gov. Sarah Palin, Harmon remains a true fan. Read The Whole Story http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,511470,00.html

I think that if your audience knows what your general demeanor is in the public eye and then you totally do a 180 onscreen to bring life to a character is award worthy. Charlize Theron has made herself a humanitarian in public. However when she takes roles she takes on complex personalities, movies with meaning, or characters based on true stories. Heath Ledger won an Oscar for his portrayal of the Joker in The Dark Night. In his public persona did he seem as sick and twisted as The Joker? No he seems quite the opposite. Just like his character in Broke Back mountain. If the director had cast two gay guys to play the lead then what would be the point? You'd see a great love story between two gay guys and nothing more, not the fact that two straight males actors probably had to put a lot aside and do tons of research to be able to fully bring the characters to life.

If I play myself on TV I shouldn't win an award for being who I am everyday. That is not creativity, that is not use of imagination, it's not art.

Trust me, I read what you said.

You win awards for the impact you make on other people, not necessarily for being someone you are not. Winning an award for simply reading lines given to you is not award worthy, you must *own* the character your portray, you must make the audience think it's real.

When I saw those two movies, I saw Charlise Theron in make-up and Senn Penn acting like a goof. Not award worthy to me.

Do you think make-believe is award worthy?

So because you disagree with her politics you want her to fail?

No maybe if you actually read what I said then you wouldn't have come to that conclusion. The character that she played on L&O isn't far from who she is in real life. You don't win awards for playing yourself. You win awards for playing complex roles that take you away from the person that you are in real life.

Charlie Theron played a serial killer and won an Oscar. Senn Penn played a mentality hanicapped man and won an Oscar. Now do you get the drift? Or do you wanna keep accusing me of stuff?

Wow and I loved her as the ADA on Law and Order. Now I know her character on the show wasn't far from her real life self. I hope she didn't win an emmy for her performances on L&O.
