Does any one remember the "smooth" transition from Clinton to Bush? The democrat team handled it like a bunch of sniveling children who just lost their favorite toy. The Bush team showed the world how adults handle the transfer of power. I doubt that you will see President Bush out there slamming the Obama team like the turd [clinton] did over the last 8 years!
I think that President Bush did what his heart told him to do. I think he is an honorable and patriotic man who will be exonerated in history's path. Time will only tell if he was right about Iraq, but regardless of what he did, it is up to Obama to keep the Nation safe now.
Now that the children are in power again, will they be mature about governing, or will they take the low road with George Soros and MoveOn.org???

Well said professor! People that bash Bush believe things like "the eight failed economic years of the Bush administration. Earth to Kool Aid sippers, 57 increased quarters of continuous growth in GDP and an unemployment rate of around 5% does not a recession make. In fact today records were released indicating that yesterday, our GDP increased all that of 2007. Keep drinking your Kool Aid, I'm behind anything that drives the bus over the cliff as soon as possible so that the socialist policies will once get into to the heads of an ignorant electorate that will finally begin to get the concept of voting with their wallets. Up until the meltdown generated by Jimmy Carter and Slick Willey, you bet people were better off during the last 6 years. Incomes rose as did GDP.

What he sad:
1) Mortgage Crisis:
Banks required to make bad loans or face lawsuits from Left-Wing groups accusing them of racism and unfair lending. When republicans in the house and senate try to fix the problem they are labeled racists and are accused of downtrodding the poor. You can see these realities take place on you tube. But go ahead and blame Bush if you can't do your homework.
2) Failing economy:
Directly related to bad lending policies and poor supervision from the democrats in charge of the finance committee AND Fannie and freddy. When warned of coming crisis democrats ridicule the right, call them racists, and accuse them of being mean to the poor. Again you can watch this happen on you tube. But if you don't want to take the time to learn the truth, just blame George Bush.
3) Two ongoing open ended wars:
I keep forgeting that the enemy will leave us alone if we'd only revert back to the Clinton tactics of doing absolutely nothing when we are attacked. That seemed to work out well for the terrorists they must have been happier knowing they could hide and we would do nothing. But you can blame Bush.
4) Destroyed U.S. city:
I know, we can't blame the democrat governor or the democrat mayor, all states should be completely dependent on the feds. That makes good sense in a republic. Maybe it is the liberal left wing welfare state in Louisiana that is to blame for not having the leadership and proper governing abilities to handle such a disaster. But what do I know, I'm just one of the guys who showed up in N.O. after Katrina to find a chaotic mess because the people there are completely dependent on government to provide for them. A product of liberalism. This is what happens when you run a welfare state. The federal government had and has NO responsibility for how Louisiana deals with disaster other than to provide aid, not take over the government and hold their hand through the process. But, you can ignorantly blame Bush if you want to. It's a free country, for now.

And, about Iraq's WMD's, how long did he have to get rid of them? We gave him at least 6 months notice before we invaded. It probably took 12 hrs to get them out of the country. Then there is this article: http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2004/oct/28/20041028-122637-6257r/
which implicates Russian Spec Ops observed moving convoys of what are presumed to be our missing intelligence items. Say's alot about our current relations with the Russians, and what goes on behind the scenes in world affairs. Interesting. Jilsy, keep up the good work

Lighthouse. Your brutal. Well written but you like most libs want to pass the buck to wall street and main street.
NO it was Dem leadership that did this to us but yet ACORN gets this guy voted in. He was one of the henchmen who drove this bus.
Fannie & Freedie took the lead ushered by dems. As my man McNabb explained to you. Other big lending institutions followed suit to compete. Now this is where we are at because of it. Not deregulation or the Bush team. Scores of Republicans made note and came out publically on the matter.
Should they of done more YES but the dems kept pushing and yelled racism as they usually do.
Bush's intel was the same as what was offered around the world. If you listen to Bush's address when the war began he gave multiple reasons why and you did not list them all here. They have been taking chemical weapons out of Iraq for some time now. When Israel threw some bombs at Syria was that for practice????????? Do you know how many people died under Sadaam?
Morning in America?? Are you nuts? You still don't know what you voted for. I do I read both his books and went to nuetral sites to get the skinny.

I did not intend to give an economics lecture about the mortgage crisis just a simplified defense of our current President because I think he and his party have taken more than their share of the blame.
To be clear both parties are responsible for the crisis and both should learn from it in order to keep the future brighter.
I am definitely not a big Bush supporter, I just don't exept the notion that I have to blindly follow him, or blindly hate him. This seems to be the hueristic that the masses have applied to the problem.

1) Mortgage Crisis and problems in the economy:
The cause of the current financial problems is more complex than you have described above, Mr. Mcnabb.
Nobody forced AIG to write $400 billion in credit default swaps, and then not have the capital to back it up. And this had nothing to do with mortgage lending policies at Fannie and Freddie, either.
And nobody forced the hedge funds and pension funds and school boards and metro systems to invest in derivatives and securities they didn't underdstand (i.e the collateralized debt obligations). Smart people, including Allen Greenspan, throught the free market system would correct itself before it became a systemic problem. But they are learning now that the system, and the regulatory environment of the past 20 years - wasn't up to the task.
Was it the democrats fault for pushing credit policies on Fannie/Freddie? Partially.
Was it the fault of those who pushed deregulation in the 20 years? (including the repeal of the Glass-Stegal Act under the Clinton administration) - Partially
Was it the fault of Bush and others in charge of the government over the last 8 years? - partially. They were in a position to act, but they didn't. (despite the warnings)
Was it the fault of Wall Street? - yes - maybe more so than the other parties.
But it really isn't a black and white issue, isn't it?
3) Two open ended wars
I am afraid the Bush adminstration will have to take full responsibility for the problems in Iraq. They were in charge, they had all of the intelligence and their were either wrong in judgement (about the existance of WMD and the threat posed by Saddam Hessein) or they were purposely misleading. Either way - they have to step up and take responsibility.
The war in Afganistan was necessary to fight the terrorist base that attacked on 9-11. Bush deserves credit for acting decisively here, IMHO.
4) Destroyed U.S city -
Katrina
The U.S. government can't be blamed for the problems here, or the response. It was a natural disaster that hit the city and the U.S. government, no matter who was in charge, would have had problems responding.
It was politics, I believe, that was in play in blaming the Bush adminstration.
Before you think I am Bush adminstration fan - let me say that I have trouble coming up with positive things to say about the last 8 years. I think that is why his popularity rating is somewhere in the teens.
The dark times under the Bush adminstration are coming to an end, and it is now morning in America.

i teared up because our long national nightmare is almost over... President Bush acted with class sure, but not with intelligence to know he messed up.
say what you want, since bush took office we've had a mortgage crisis, a failing economy, two ongoing-open ended wars, a nearly destroyed US city that only is getting half rebuilt and the other half still looks flooded and two holes in NYC. so much for a legacy...
but you're right, he smiled and had class.. so being a failure doesnt matter.
MrSystem (Republican) - 1 year ago
Like usual, the Title of the video does not match reality. President Bush teared up slightly because he was addressing his staff and publicly saying goodbye to them. Just watch the video. A lot of people have called his Presidency a disaster and/or failure. I think he has acted with class and dignity throughout the unwarranted attacks upon him by all sides. He kept us safe for almost 8 years now, and some still have the nerve to say we are less secure as a nation. What a joke. I live in reality where terrorists have tried and will continue to try to kill me. I thank God that George Bush gets it... I also thank God that America stands for what it does. Who, in all honesty would rather have Al Queda in charge of world security?
