Actually when they found out who his father was they offered him his release. John McCain turned them down and requested that another prisoner who had been there longer get to go home in his place.

There are things about McCain I do not like, but that was a strong move.

I'm sorry but as a POW he is giving up way too much information way too easily! I know that times were different back then and he had a well known name due to his father but why would he openly admit that it was his father. Why not say nope it's just a coincidence we are not related. Now they could have used that knowledge to try to black male his father.

Oh yea I have this many kids, their names are, I live here, my dad is this person, just use me to barter with now!
