I believe in an initial causality to the universe because I cannot accept that the entire mass of the universe came from a complete void (the necessary antithesis of a universe without an external causality). I would tend to think this causality has properties which exist outside our universe, most especially our concept of time. However, though I suspect that this may be a creator (god, if you will), I can never accept the tenets of a revealed religion (Christianity, Islam, etc.).
