The Democratic Party is in such disarray and has so much division with competing identities. It’s time to make the popcorn and watch them start eating each other. They couldn’t even vote in Iowa without making it a continued and huge debacle. The Republican vote there was counted and complete by 9 PM and Trump had the greatest turnout in history there despite being uncontested. The numbers that turned out in Iowa for the Democrats should be alarming. Democrats there seemed to be uninterested.
The leadership race is in such disarray at the moment with Biden and Warren fading fast that absolutely anything could happen. Sanders was hot favourite for Iowa, who would have expected Mayor Pete to match him? Bloomberg with all his money has a slim chance to change the dynamic and Sanders far left stance and lack of transparency over Medicare leaves many voters very apprehensive. I cannot really see beyond Trump for the ultimate prize, unless Nadler can pull a rabbit out of the hat and find more to impeach with once again.
Anything is possible as this topsy turvy, dinosaur fest continues to split American voters. Bloomberg’s money ‘can’t buy him love’ and he will need to convince African Americans that he is the man, with the ‘stop and frisk’ still fresh in the mind. Buttigieg has a similar problem but Biden, who has suffered a disappointing couple of weeks, can still rely on African American support. I expect a reaction in the polls, Biden ain’t finished yet.
