Fox News and CNN disagree even in the matters of basic human decency.
According to CNN, when Karlan said that “Trump could name his son Barron, but he could not make him a baron”, she was joking. She only used Barron’s name to make a successful analogy about differences between the kings and presidents.
According to Fox News, as expected, Karlan should be ashamed for bringing up President’s son who is a minor:
“Only in the minds of crazed liberals is it funny to drag a 13-year-old child into the impeachment nonsense,” McEnany said in a statement. “Pamela Karlan thought she was being clever and going for laughs, but she instead reinforced for all Americans that Democrats have no boundaries when it comes to their hatred of everything related to President Trump."
Karlan was wrong to bring up Barron’s name. It was done in bad humor. But it is far-fetched to suggest, as Pence does, that Karlan tried to justify impeachment by bringing up President’s young son. She was not mocking Barron (whose name everyone knows anyway) nor violating his privacy, but merely using his name to make an analogy (admittedly, in bad taste).
